The theme of bridal vs. tolerance is a common theme amongst Americans citizens. All throughout America, we have welcomed foreigners and for the most part people that are antithetic from you or the soulfulness next to you into our dry land, to live alongside single another in this giant melting pot we telephone call a country. However, history has shown us that we as a country have not been the land of open arms that the field thought us out to be. Many movements and protests have been made, including the courteous rights and women rights movements, in this country to fight for this very cause. The play focuses on the town of Laramie, Wyoming where a major tragedy has stuck and has left the people heartbroken and woolly at the situation at hand. A homosexual boy, a college student named Matthew Shepard, has been beaten and murdered, not by some antic but by two young boys whom the community make do and recognize. This event was an enormous deal to the people of Laramie, because the whole evidence was now branded as a murderous strict state because of the actions of two people.
