PUBLIC STATEMENT BY EIGHT ALABAMA CLERGYMEN April 12, 1963 We the undersigned clergymen argon among those who, in January, issued "An Appeal (yüksek mahkemeye yap?lan rica. ba?vuru. temyiz) for police force and Order and Common Sense," in dealing with racial problems in Alabama. We expressed understanding that honest convictions (kanaat) in racial matters could powerful be pursued (takip etmek) in the courts, but urged (ileri surmek) that decisions of those courts should in the retardation be peacefully obeyed. All of us consider to face that responsibility and find proper channels for its accomplishment. honourable as we formerly pointed out that " villainy and violence have no sanction in our religious and political traditions," we in like manner point out that such actions as incite to hatred and violence, however technically peaceful those actions may be, have non contributed to the resolution of our local problems.
