Being one of the first contemporary novelists, Naguib Mahfouz writes about the themes of existentialism. He was an Egyptian novelist that was born on December 11th, 1911 and just deep passed away on August 30th, 2006. Named after the man who delivered him, prof Naguib Pasha Mahfouz, Mahfouz made quite an impression on the Arab world. He won a Nobel Prize in 1988 for his marvelous literature. natural into a religiously Muslim family, Mahfouz was raised with Moslem beliefs that surround his middle lower class family. Since he spoke in favor of Sadat, his books were banned from near Arab countries. His controversial material got him on the death list of the Islamic leaders. He defended Salman Rushdie, though not the content of his books, and said that he had a freedom of expressing whatever he pleased without getting persecuted for it. Author of Children of Gebelawi, Naguib had a lot in common with Rushdie. At the time of death, he represented the only Arabic writer to receive a Nobel peace prize.
