The first Reggio genus Emilia School was created in the Italian small town of Emilia Romango by Loris Malaguzzi shortly after the end of ball War II. A Reggio Emilia classroom consists of twenty-five students and two teachers. The students and teachers remain together over a three-year period. Projects are conducted typically in groups of five. Even when children charter the opportunity to cogitation independently they are encouraged to work in groups. During this time the teacher will commonly lease questions, guide a child, and devote suggestions.



Once a teacher begins a project the curriculum is then further define based on the interests of the child and can expand to run weeks. Teachers are viewed more as partners and collaborators rather than instructors. They also make detailed observations by taking notes, pictures, and videos that are used to judge the childrens learning and to help develop more projects to gainsay their learning environment.
The learning environment considered the third teacher and it is purposely designed to promote learning and to contribute to the educational experience.
