He is the eldest of the six children of John Newman and Jemima Fourdrinier. At the grow of seven Newman was sent to a private school conducted by Dr. Nicholas at Ealing, where he was distinguished by diligence and groovy conduct, he resided there until the age of fifteen. In June of 1818 he get a scholarship to attend the University of Oxford which was tenable for nine years. Unfortunately, Newman had to echo from the University of Oxford in 1819 due to his fathers bank, in which it hang up the payment. While completing a project for the new Catholic University in Dublin, John wrote The Idea of a University, in which he strongly discussed and argued his statements regarding the purpose of a university and education in its own.
